When the Blood Biker Charity Leicestershire and Rutland Blood Bikers (LRBB) lost their van sponsorship, local firm, Reflex Vehicle Hire stepped in to help. Leicestershire based, Reflex provided the charity with a new Mercedes Citan Van to help the group complete vital and sometimes life saving deliveries of urgent blood and sample products to NHS hospitals and blood banks across the region.
LRBB provide an out of hours service to the NHS free of charge and is one of approximately 35 blood bike charities in the UK. All of the blood bikers and back office teams are all volunteers and cover 12 hour shifts to complete the deliveries.
Commenting, Mr. Oliver Waring, MD of Reflex Vehicle Hire says “as a safety-first vehicle rental provider, we believe we have a social responsibility within our local community to help. Part of our philosophy is #DriveSafeHomeSafe, so it was an easy decision to ensure LRBB continue the excellent work they do safely for the NHS, all year round”
Ollie Cufflin, Chairman of the LRBB commented, “As a charitable group offering this free service to the NHS we rely wholly on the generosity of the public and local businesses to continue. Having a van to complement our motor bikes is a huge benefit to our group.” He continues, “this time of year when the temperature drops to freezing, we are able to continue our deliveries safely using the van un-hindered by the weather”
Jonathan Bostock, LRBB rider and Joint Chairman, seen in the picture receiving the keys comments, “the donation of the van is fantastic, not only does it help us provide the NHS with an all year-round service. It also helps us continue our service and provide riders a safe alternative to the motorbike in the winter months it also allows us to expand our service beyond the bikes alone”
